JOB TITLE

SENIOR DESIGNER

DEPARTMENT

Communications Team

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This full-time position is responsible for directing and creating the design, look, feel, and presentation of Stonecroft Ministries through print materials, websites, video presentations, and other materials produced for ministry use, while adhering to established design guidelines.

REPORTS TO

Director of Communications

Supervises: Graphic Designers

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Guides in the design of printed, audio-visual, and web-based materials.
  2. Participate in designing for printed materials.
  3. Works with Director of Communications to assign, guide, and oversee contracted designers.
  4. Establishes, distributes, maintains, and enforces Design Manual.
  5. Works closely with web, video, publications, and print production departments to ensure uniform look of all materials.
  6. Takes an active and leading role in the design of Stonecroft's major publications: Stonecroft Today, Outpouring, Ignite.
  7. Establishes annual process to evaluate design of all materials.
  8. Work with internal clients to create materials that share the vision and fulfill the purposes of Stonecroft Ministries.
  9. Establish and maintain photo and graphic library.
  10. Helps raise contributions for the support of the ministry.
  11. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A personal and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. Strong language skills, both verbal and written; ability to communicate ideas clearly.
  3. A BA, BFA or higher, or equivalent experience in graphic design.
  4. Minimum of five years experience in graphics industry, including creative direction, art direction, print design, print production, packaging and trade show presentations. Management experience preferred.
  5. The ability to work well with people of various temperaments and thrive in a team environment.
  6. Demonstrated leadership skills in a creative environment.
  7. A teachable spirit and a desire for continued learning and growth.
  8. An ability to problem-solve quickly and with diplomacy. A self-learner.
  9. Demonstrated experience in MAC (OS 9 and OSX) and PC environments. Proficient in Adobe InDesign CS, QuarkXPress 6, Adobe Photoshop CS, AdobeIllustrator CS, Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook), Adobe PageMaker, PDF, Protocol, Font Reserve, Acrobat, Adobe GoLive, Dreamweaver, and Macromedia Flash. Working knowledge of CSS, Javascript, and HTML.
  10. Demonstrated ability to design for offset press (pre-press, proofing, paper, inks, CMYK color spectrum, process vs. spot colors, 4-color printing, 5+ color printing, PDF workflow, stamping, die-cutting, digital imaging, PMS colors) and desktop publishing.
  11. Understanding of web design, including RGB color spectrum and ability to create visual concepts that match content and image.
  12. Demonstrated ability to respond to marketing needs.
  13. Exceptional listening skills and the ability to help others express their desires and vision.
  14. Ability to adjust ideas to follow direction of internal client while staying within design guidelines; ability to guide internal client to desired goal from inception to final product.
  15. Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  16. Provide a current diversified portfolio of principal design work (business, long-term, short-term, fun designs, etc.) with an emphasis in print design.
  17. Demonstrative ability to design for a varied audience (gender, age, culture).

  3. Ability to understand and carry out verbal instructions
